Norlington School and Sixth Form

Waltham Forest Sportshall Athletics Competition

On Tuesday 25th November,  Norlington School took part in the Waltham Forest Sportshall Athletics Competition for Years 7 and 8. I had the pleasure of taking 11 students, all of whom represented the school with outstanding effort, discipline, and teamwork throughout the day.

Our full squad included:

Matias Estrada Jimenez (8R)
Eleazar Koranteng (8M)
Daniel Liverpool (7R)
Adam Matrouh (7S)
Jayden Otchere (7C)
Mohammad Omar Shinwari (8M)
Muhammad Adam Uddin (8S)
Ayman Uthman (7N)
Mohammad Amaar Younis (8S)
Aymen Adam (7R)
Shaiden Miller (7R)

This was a particularly valuable experience for our Year 7s, many of whom were representing the school for the first time. They showed excellent enthusiasm and maturity, and the hope is that they can follow in the footsteps of our current Year 8 team, who secured Norlington's first ever gold in the borough 4x100m relay last summer.
Across the programme of indoor track and field events, the boys delivered strong performances, achieving 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishes across a range of disciplines. While final placings are still being confirmed—due to results being taken from combined heats and timings—the team can be confident that they performed exceptionally well.
A particular highlight was the Year 8 relay team, who won their heat by a significant margin. Their dominance on the indoor stage sets a promising tone ahead of the summer athletics season, where we aim to build on last year’s success.

Overall, it was a rewarding experience for the team, and the students should be proud of their effort and achievements. Their enthusiasm made the day both enjoyable and successful, and they represented Norlington with real pride.

Overall, the entire team should be proud of their commitment, sportsmanship, and competitive spirit. They represented Norlington brilliantly, and we look forward to receiving the confirmed results soon.

Athletics

Friday 27th June saw Norlington take part in one of its most successful Borough Athletics Championships to date. With temperatures soaring and over 15 schools in attendance at the Feel Good Centre, our athletes rose to the occasion with outstanding performances on both the track and field.

Led by Mr Beshir, who has worked tirelessly to drive our athletics programme forward, and supported by Mr Owusu, who has been instrumental in leading Monday training sessions, this event marked a significant step forward for sport at Norlington.

A Day to Remember

The levels of energy, determination, and team spirit on show were outstanding. From sprint finishes and powerful throws to cheering each other on between events, Norlington’s athletes did the school proud at every turn.

This success is the result of a growing culture of commitment and training, and forms a brilliant foundation for what we hope is just the beginning of even greater things to come in school athletics.

Well done to all who took part – the future looks bright.
