Year 11 Volleyball Tournament Report
Norlington School hosted a successful Year 11 volleyball tournament involving teams from Norlington A, Norlington B, Chingford, Leytonstone, and Walthamstow Academy. The event provided an excellent competitive environment and was thoroughly enjoyed by all neighbouring schools within our Waltham Forest borough.
The tournament was also used as a valuable opportunity for Year 11 GCSE PE students to complete moderation in a competitive setting, where pupils demonstrated strong application of skills, tactical understanding, and performance under pressure. Their performances did their marks real justice, reflecting the progress made throughout the course.
The Norlington A team, consisting of Yaseen, Arhum, Uzair, Eesa, Zubayr, Haashir, and Ruhan, produced an outstanding set of performances across the tournament and finished as overall winners with an unbeaten run.
Their results were:
- Norlington A vs Walthamstow Academy – Won 2–0
- Norlington A vs Leytonstone – Won 2–1
- Norlington A vs Chingford – Won 2–0
Across all fixtures, the team showed excellent consistency, strong communication, and effective court organisation. Their serve pressure, controlled rallies, and intelligent shot placement allowed them to dominate key moments in matches. The cohesion and discipline within this group were clear throughout, and their unbeaten record was fully deserved.
The Norlington B team, made up of William, Yusuf Hanslod, Ali Rizvi, Ibrahim Tahir, Yusuf Islam, Ismail Ismail, Talha Ismail and Talha Ismail, also delivered a strong and committed set of performances.
Their results were:
- Norlington B vs Walthamstow Academy – Won 2–0
- Norlington B vs Chingford – Won 2–1
- Norlington B vs Leytonstone – Lost 0–2
Norlington B showed resilience, teamwork, and strong effort throughout the tournament. Their ability to respond positively after setbacks, maintain communication on court, and support one another during rallies was a real strength. Two wins from three matches reflects the progress made by this group and their growing confidence in competitive volleyball.
The tournament was successfully run, highly competitive, and enjoyed by all participating schools. Both Norlington A and Norlington B represented the school excellently, demonstrating commitment, teamwork, and positive sporting attitudes throughout.
With strong performances, successful GCSE moderation, and positive feedback from visiting schools, the event stands as a clear success and an experience the students can be proud of.
